YOU may be eligible for an ASHRAE Honor or Award - Chapter, Regional or Society Level All awards fall into one of the categories listed below:

(3) Society Personal Honors
(4) Society Personal Awards for General Society Activities
(5) Society Personal Awards for Specific Society Activities
(6) Society Paper Awards
(7) Society Awards to Groups or Chapters
HOW TO NOMINATE Chapters, regions, committees or individual ASHRAE members may make nominations for Personal Honors and Personal Awards for General Society Activities. The committee, which sponsors the award, makes nomination for Personal Awards for Specific Society Activities and Society Awards to Groups or Chapters. The St. Louis Chapter ASHRAE Honors and Awards Committee make recommendations for Paper Awards.
Material must be received at Headquarters not later than December 1 for consideration at the Winter Meeting and by May 1 for the Annual Meeting, in order to allow time for reproduction and distribution to the Honors and Awards Committee. (Exceptions may be made for nominations submitted through a CRC, which is held later than May).
Nominations for Personal Honors and Personal Awards for General Society Activities must include a letter of nomination from a sponsor (chapter, region, committee or ASHHRAE member) and a current, detailed biography, which clearly addresses specific contributions. Biographical Record Forms are available from ASHRAE Headquarters. There are deadlines for each specific award. All nominations should be sent to the following address: ASHRAE/1791 Tullie Circle, N.E./Atlanta, GA 30329-2305/Attn.: Honors And Awards Committee. The candidate's chapter delegate makes recommendations for Regional Awards to the CRC (Chapters Regional Conference). The Board of Governors makes selections of the St. Louis Chapter ASHRAE Awards.
The various awards are outlined below. More detailed information and application forms can be obtained from the St. Louis Chapter ASHRAE Honors & Awards Committee. The listing below gives brief outline of each award and a listing of past St. Louis Chapter ASHRAE recipients. The past recipients of each award are listed alphabetically - not in order of date or year the recipients honor or award was received. (Note: If there are any errors or omissions in the listings of past recipients it is due to inadvertent error and the committee requests that you bring any such errors or omissions to our attention as soon as possible). Congratulations to all of the St. Louis Chapter ASHRAE members who have received ASHRAE Honors and Awards in the past.
During this program year there will be monthly articles in The Thermos about the ASHRAE Honors & Awards program to help each ASHRAE member better understand the opportunities so be eligible for one of these honors or awards. In addition, a database will be developed to help track our St. Louis Chapter ASHRAE members' service points to keep track of each member's record of service. Watch The Thermos throughout this year and be sure to contact an Honors & Awards Committee member if you think you are eligible for an award this year or in the near future. Please give consideration to these honors and awards and if you or someone you know may be eligible now or in the near future please contact the St. Louis Chapter ASHRAE Honors & Awards Committee.
Hermann F. Spoehrer Award
This Award is sponsored by the Sporlan Valve Company of Washington, Missouri in memory of the late Hermann F. Spoehrer, one of the company founders. The recipient must be a member in good standing of the Society and the St. Louis Chapter ASHRAE, be currently or formerly active in Chapter activities, be active in Society, but official positions are not necessary, be currently active in community affairs.

Technology ARCHIE Award
The St. Louis Chapter ASHRAE Technology ARCHIE Awards program recognizes, on an international scale, successful applications of innovative design, which incorporate ASHRAE standards for effective energy management, indoor air quality, and good mechanical design management technology.

Regional Award of Merit
The purpose of this award is to recognize the activities and contributions of members of ASHRAE at the chapter and regional level. Qualifications of a candidate shall be a minimum of the credit points from a specific list of activities.

Chapter Service Award
This award should be attainable with 15-20 years of consistent involvement. There is a specific list of activities and points associated with each activity (chapter officer, committee chair, committee member, CRC involvement, etc.). A minimum of 15 service points are required.

Technology Award
The ASHRAE Technology Awards program recognizes, on an international scale, successful applications of innovative design, which incorporate ASHRAE standards for effective energy management, indoor air quality, and good mechanical design management technology.

ASHRAE Hall of Fame
This award honors deceased members who have made milestone contributions to the growth of ASHRAE-related technology. Individuals inducted into the Hall of Fame must have been an ASHRAE member (any grade) or a member of a predecessor Society and must have shown evidence of distinction in the Society, either technically or academically. Recipients of this award include Willis H. Carrier, F. Paul Anderson and Francis W. Hutchinson.

F. Paul Anderson Award
This award, named in honor of F. Paul Anderson, is the Society's highest award. Mr. Anderson was the 1927-28 President of the American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers who, according to President Thornton Lewis, "directed the education of more engineers in the heating and ventilation profession than any other man in the world." This award honors members for notable achievement, outstanding work or service in any field of the Society. Previous recipients of this award include Willis Carrier, Sam Lewis, Carl Ashley and Donald Krocker.

Louise and Bill Holladay Distinguished Fellow Award
This award honors Fellows of the Society for continuing preeminence in engineering or research work.

Fellow
Fellow grade is awarded to ASHRAE members who have attained distinction in the fields of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or the allied arts and sciences through invention, research, teaching, design, original work, or as an engineering executive on projects of unusual or important scope. The individual must have made substantial contributions and have been a full grade member in good standing for at least ten years prior to the date of his/her election.

Andrew T. Boggs Service Award
This award, named after Andrew T. Boggs, former ASHRAE Executive Vice President, recognizes past recipients of the Distinguished Service Award for continuing, unselfish, dedicated and distinguished service to the Society.

ASHRAE-ALCO Medal for Distinguished Public Service
This award recognizes ASHRAE members who have performed outstanding public service in their community, and in doing so, have helped to improve the public image of the engineer.

E. K. Campbell Award of Merit
This award honors an individual for outstanding service and achievement in teaching.

Honorary Member
Honorary Member status is granted to individuals in recognition of preeminent professional distinction without regard to whether the individual is or has been a member of the Society. Previous recipients include Milton Eisenhower and Herbert Hoover.

SOCIETY PERSONAL AWARDS FOR GENERAL SOCIETY ACTIVITIES
Distinguished Fifty-Year Member Award
This award recognizes individuals who have been ASHRAE members for a minimum of fifty years, who were a past Society President, a Fellow, recipient of the Distinguished Service Award, or otherwise performed outstanding service for the Society.

Exceptional Service Award
This award recognizes members who have served the Society faithfully and with exemplary effort, far in excess of that required for the Distinguished Service Award (45 service points are required). The individual must have been a full grade Member for a minimum of ten years and be a past recipient of the Distinguished Service Award.

Distinguished Service Award
This award recognizes members of ASHRAE who have served the Society faithfully and with distinction on committees or have otherwise given freely of their time and talent on behalf of the Society (15 service points are required).

Lincoln Bouillon Award
This award recognizes a member who performs the most outstanding work in increasing the membership of the Society during the course of the year.

This award recognizes a graduate student who has been engaged in an ASHRAE research project.

Ralph G. Nevins Physiology and Human Environment Award
This award is presented to an individual for significant accomplishment in the general area of man's response to the environment, which may include thermal, moisture, visual, acoustical, toxic, allergic, olfactory, vibrational and microbiological effects on man's health, comfort and well-being.

John F. James International Award
This award recognizes an ASHRAE member who has done the most to enhance the Society's international presence.

Milton W. Garland Refrigeration Award
This award recognizes the Chapter Refrigeration Committee Chair who has done the most outstanding work in promoting the science of refrigeration at the chapter level.

This award recognizes a Chapter TEGA Chairman who excels in meeting TEGA goals in technical energy and government activities.

This award is for the top paper chosen from among the Technical, Symposium and Journal Paper Awards.

SOCIETY AWARDS TO GROUPS OR CHAPTERS
Student Design Project Competition
This award recognizes undergraduate students who have completed design projects based on the topics prescribed in the current year's competition brochure. Design teams compete in one or more of the following categories: architectural systems design, HVAC systems design, or primary systems design.
